The Ankeny boys’ tennis team moved closer to the .500 mark in the CIML Conference with a 7-4 victory over visiting Urbandale on Wednesday.
The Hawks won four of the five doubles matches to earn the triumph after the two teams split the six singles matches. They improved to 3-4 in the league and 3-6 overall, while Urbandale’s records dropped to 1-6 and 6-7.
All seven of Ankeny’s victories came in straight sets. The J-Hawks forced a third-set supertiebreaker in the other four matches and won all of them.
Ankeny will host fifth-ranked Valley in its final conference meet on Thursday. The Tigers are 6-1 in the league and 9-1 overall.
