A quartet of Ankeny players and a trio from Ankeny Centennial have been named to the Class 3A West all-district girls’ soccer team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
Ankeny was represented by senior forward Emma Gott, junior midfielders Camryn Dietz and Alli Macke, and junior defender Sophie Loeffler. That foursome led the Hawkettes to a 14-5 record, a share of the CIML Conference title, and a trip to the Class 3A semifinals.
Centennial landed junior defender Maddison Balashaitis, senior forward McKenna Hilton and junior forward Ava Martin on the squad. The Jaguars qualified for the state tournament and finished with a 13-7 mark.
Ankeny had the most players on the all-district team. Valley and Waukee Northwest matched Centennial with three players on the squad.
Southeast Polk’s Addison Shrum was named the district coach of the year.
