It was an easy decision for Ankeny senior Zach Halverson.
The righthanded pitcher has committed to play baseball for Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. He announced his decision via social media on Thursday.
“There was a good amount of schools that were in contact with me,” said Halverson. “And honestly, it wasn’t really that difficult of a decision. Just because I had visited Ellsworth, and I liked the campus and they had what I wanted to major in.”
Halverson helped Ankeny to a 19-23 record last season. He posted a 1-4 mark with a 6.42 ERA.
Halverson made seven starts for the Hawks in each of the last two years. He went 1-3 with a 3.88 ERA as a sophomore, when he earned all-conference honorable mention.
Three of Halverson’s former Ankeny teammates–Brock Adamson, Carson Agan and Max Watson–are currently members of the Ellsworth squad.
“Those guys are good friends of mine, and they said they loved it (there)!” Halverson said. “So I knew it was an easy choice to make.”
