The three-time state champion Ankeny Christian Academy volleyball team has been awarded numerous postseason honors from the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
Senior setter Katie Quick led the way for the Eagles. The Drake recruit was a repeat pick as the Class 1A Player of the Year and was also named to the Elite all-state team for the second straight season.
Quick led the entire state in aces for the third year in a row with 120. She dished out 912 assists, which tied for 18th in the state, and her .473 kill efficiency ranked fourth among all players.
Quick was also named to the Class 1A all-state first team for the third straight year along with senior outside hitter Carley Craighead. Another teammate, Macey Nehring, was a repeat pick to the squad.
Craighead, a Cedarville University (Ohio) recruit, tied for 40th in the state with 364 kills. Her .447 kill efficiency ranked seventh overall, and she tied for 11th with 76 aces.
Nehring, a senior outside hitter, had 312 kills and a team-high 334 digs. She ranked seventh in the state with 81 aces.
Two other Eagles also earned all-state honors. Senior middle hitter Anna Weathers was a repeat pick to the Class 1A second team, while senior middle hitter Morgan Fincham was named to the fourth team.
Weathers had 264 kills and a team-high 32 blocks. The Cedarville University softball recruit placed second in the state with 99 aces.
Fincham contributed 106 kills and tied for 20th in the state with 66 aces. She will play volleyball and basketball at Faith Baptist Bible College.
ACA coach Michele Quick was also honored after guiding the Eagles to a 40-5 mark that broke the school record for most wins in a season. She was named the Class 1A Coach of the Year for the third straight time.
All-district teams
Michele Quick was also selected the Class 1A South Central District Coach of the Year for the third year in a row.
Craighead, Nehring, Quick and Weathers were also named to the all-district team for the third consecutive season. Fincham was a repeat pick, and sophomore libero Katelyn Weathers was also named to the squad.
