The ninth-ranked Ankeny boys’ swimming team dropped a 111-59 decision to No. 1 Cedar Falls in a non-conference dual meet on Saturday at Trail Point Aquatics Center.
The Tigers entered the meet with 3,520 power points, which led the state and put them 109 points ahead of No. 2 Waukee Northwest. They showed in Saturday’s meet why they’re the early favorite to win the state title next month in Iowa City.
“I can confidently say that they were just as tough as we expected, and I truly don’t think that there is a more complete team in the entire state than the Tigers,” said Ankeny junior Bryer Pearson.
The results from the meet are not yet available.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Ankeny, which dropped to 3-4 on the season. The Hawks will travel to Linn-Mar (Marion) on Saturday for a non-conference meet against the No. 5 Lions before hosting a CIML Conference dual against Waukee Northwest on Jan. 21.
