
Grand View junior Cleao Murray has been named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference women’s basketball first team. The junior guard has helped the Vikings to a 23-6 record heading into Friday’s game at home against Benedictine College (Kan.) in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Murray, a former Ankeny Centennial standout, consistently delivered high-level performances on both ends of the court. Averaging 17.2 points per game and totaling 396 points, she was a key offensive contributor, shooting .443 from the field while displaying versatility with 32 made 3-pointers. She also proved to be a reliable free-throw shooter, converting 48-of-69 attempts for a .696 percentage.
Beyond scoring, Murray contributed significantly on the boards, averaging 4.2 rebounds per game with 97 total rebounds, including 48 on the offensive end. She showcased her tenacity in securing second-chance opportunities.
Her well-rounded play extended to defense and playmaking, recording 45 assists, 26 steals and seven blocks while maintaining a strong presence in 727 minutes of action. Her ability to score, create opportunities, and make an impact in all facets of the game solidified her as a deserving first-team selection.
