
Coming off a long weekend at the Drake Relays, the Ankeny Centennial girls’ track team rested most of its top athletes as the Jaguars competed at the Saydel Invitational on Monday.
Centennial still managed a third-place finish in the eight-team field with 104.5 points. Indianola easily won the team title with 229 points, while North Polk took second with 137.
The Jaguars closed out the meet with their only victory of the night. The foursome of Kaelyn Rinehart, Lois Kopf, Brekklin Wills and Autumn Cabossart won the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:19.59.
Kopf earlier placed second in the 400 in 1:02.88. Genevieve Johnson was the runner-up in the 3,000 with a time of 11:40.15.
Trinity Klingensmith took third in the 800 in 2:31.95. Christayzia Hunt finished fourth in the 200 in 28.76.
Klingensmith also joined Rinehart, Cate Benning and Kaiah Starr on the runner-up 4×800 relay. The Jaguars were clocked in 10:16.50.
Centennial will travel to Mason City on Thursday for the Riverhawk Invitational.
