The Ankeny boys’ tennis team picked up its second win of the season on Monday in dominating fashion.
The Hawks rolled to an 11-0 victory over visiting Ottumwa in a non-conference meet at the Prairie Ridge courts. They won all 11 matches in straight sets, including a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles by Garrett Weichers.
“We needed something positive,” said Ankeny coach Ron Miller. “Unfortunately, Ottumwa was pretty much made up of beginners with the exception of their No. 1, but he wasn’t up to Garrett’s level.”
Ankeny improved to 2-4 overall. The Bulldogs’ record dropped to 4-4.

“It was our first 11-0 (shutout) in my six seasons as coach,” Miller said. “But we have no time to celebrate as we are very busy with the last two weeks of the regular season.”
The Hawks will travel to Southeast Polk on Tuesday for a CIML Conference meet against the Rams, who are 0-4 in the league and 0-7 overall.
