
Brock Brazeau and Lucas De la Cuba each scored a pair of goals to lead the Ankeny Centennial boys’ soccer team to a 10-0 victory at Mason City in a non-conference game on Thursday.
Tate Duax added a goal and three assists as the second-ranked Jaguars improved to 7-0-2 on the season. Mason City’s record dropped to 2-7-1.
“It was a good performance,” said Centennial coach Brian Duax. “We had lots of goals spread out amongst many players. We played our entire healthy roster.”
Centennial built a 5-0 halftime lead and then added five more goals in the second half. The game ended at the 66-minute mark due to the 10-goal mercy rule.
The loss was the third in four days for Mason City, which was outscored by those three opponents by a 22-0 margin. The Riverhawks also lost to Cedar Falls, 4-0, and to Marshalltown, 8-0, earlier in the week.
Garrett Christensen, Ben Ridlen and Ty Sexton each had a goal and an assist in the Jaguars’ win. Hanan Haurdic and Alen Mujakovic had the team’s other goals.
De la Cuba chipped in an assist, matching Duax with five points on the night. Beckett Boehringer, Marcus Gabriel and Andrew Krueger also had assists for Centennial.
The Jaguars will host a non-conference game against Iowa City West (5-3-1) on Friday. The Trojans are coming off a 10-0 victory at Western Dubuque on Thursday.
