Ankeny, Centennial boys’ tennis squads headed to substate team play in Class 2A

Both the Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial boys’ tennis teams have earned spots in postseason play from the Iowa High School Athletic Association.

The Hawks (4-6) have been placed in Class 2A Substate 1. They will play at Waukee Northwest (9-0) in the semifinal round, with the winner to meet Indianola (8-5) or Sioux City North (12-1) in the final.

The Jaguars (4-7) have been placed in Substate 3. They will play at Dowling Catholic (7-3) in the semifinal round, with the winner to face Dallas Center-Grimes (8-2) or Valley (6-6) in the final.

Ankeny just played Waukee Northwest on Tuesday, dropping an 11-0 decision to the Wolves. The Jaguars will also try to avenge an 11-0 loss to Dowling on April 21.

The substate semifinals and finals will take place at one site on May 20.
