
The top-ranked Ankeny Centennial boys’ soccer team was awarded a No. 1 seed in Class 4A Substate 6 when the Iowa High School Athletic Association released its postseason brackets on Tuesday.
Ankeny, meanwhile, was given a No. 4 seed in Substate 1. The Hawks (4-9-1) will host Des Moines East (2-10) in a substate quarterfinal on May 19.
After receiving a bye, Centennial (10-0-2) will host a semifinal game against fourth-seeded Cedar Rapids Jefferson (4-6-3) on May 27. With a win, the Jaguars would host No. 2 Cedar Rapids Kennedy (7-5) or No. 3 Waterloo West (7-4-1) in the substate final on May 29.
Fifth-ranked Southeast Polk is the No. 1 seed in Substate 1. The Rams (9-2-4) will host Ankeny or Des Moines East in a semifinal game on May 27.
No. 2 Muscatine (9-3-2) will host No. 3 Iowa City Liberty (3-5-4) in the other semifinal game. The highest remaining seed will host the substate final on May 29.
