
The Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial boys’ tennis squads suffered similar fates during Class 2A substate team play on Wednesday.
Both teams dropped a 5-0 decision on the road to a CIML Conference rival that had defeated them by an 11-0 margin earlier this season. The Hawks fell to Waukee Northwest in a Substate 1 semifinal, while the Jaguars lost to Dowling Catholic in a Substate 3 semifinal.
Centennial (4-8) played several competitive matches against the Maroons (8-3). Reece Dickinson lost two close sets to Marek Dessimoz at No. 3 singles, while the Jaguars won at least four games in all three doubles matches.

At Northwest, the Wolves (11-0) rolled to another dominant victory. Ankeny (4-7) won a total of just two games in the five matches that were completed.
