
Ankeny girls’ soccer standout Ava Paoli has been named to the Class 3A all-state team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association for the second straight year.
Paoli was joined on the squad by a pair of Ankeny Centennial stars. The Jaguars were represented by Evie Boyle and Mady Postma.
Paoli, a senior forward, led her team to an 11-6-1 record. The Hawkettes advanced to the state tournament for the ninth consecutive season.
Paoli scored a team-high 14 goals. She also led Ankeny with seven assists and 35 points.

Postma, a junior forward, helped Centennial to a 16-3-1 mark and a repeat appearance in the Class 3A semifinals. She led the Jaguars with 11 goals.
Boyle, a senior defender, recorded three goals and seven assists. She was also the leader of a defensive unit that posted 10 clean sheets.
Waukee Northwest’s Tony Gabriel, who guided the Wolves to a second straight Class 3A crown, was named the Coach of the Year.
All-district team
Paoli was also a repeat selection to the Class 3A West all-district team by the Coaches Association. She was joined on the squad by Boyle, Postma and Emmarie Becker of Centennial.

Becker, a senior midfielder, had seven goals and two assists for the Jaguars.
Academic all-state team
Becker was also named to the academic all-state team by the Coaches Association. Fellow Centennial seniors Emily Conger and Piper Zeman were also selected to the squad.
