Curtis, Fincham named to all-district first team; ACA trio earns 2nd-team honors

Five Ankeny Christian Academy baseball players have earned all-district honors from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Senior pitcher Landon Curtis and senior first baseman Tyson Fincham were both named to the Central District first team. Senior pitcher Lucas Erickson, sophomore second baseman Tyler Davis and senior outfielder Lucas Herbel were selected to the second team.

Curtis compiled an 8-1 record with a 1.91 ERA and 45 strikeouts. He also batted .360 with two home runs, eight doubles and 28 RBIs.

Fincham batted .500 with two triples, six doubles and 25 RBIs. He helped the Eagles to a 29-6 season that was capped off by the first state tournament appearance in program history.

Erickson went 7-2 on the mound with a 3.02 ERA and 53 strikeouts. At the plate, he batted .337 with one homer, five doubles and 39 RBIs.

Davis batted .500 with two triples, 14 doubles and 44 RBIs. He was also one of the team’s top pitchers, going 7-0 with a 2.79 ERA and 43 strikeouts.

Herbel batted .483 with one homer, four doubles and 23 RBIs. He ranked second in Class 1A with 42 stolen bases in 44 attempts.
