
Ankeny Christian Academy softball standouts Breeze Bentz, Brette Bentz and Sicily Crosby have been named to the Class 1A South Central all-district team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
ACA coach James Crosby was also honored. He was named the district coach of the year after guiding the Eagles to a 22-4 record this season.
Brette Bentz, a senior pitcher and catcher, compiled a 13-4 mark with a 2.56 ERA and 98 strikeouts. She also batted .425 with two home runs, 13 doubles and 30 RBIs.

Breeze Bentz, a sophomore shortstop, led all of Class 1A with a .648 average. She played in just 18 games, but still led the Eagles with five homers and three triples while driving in 24 runs.
Crosby, a senior first baseman and pitcher, batted .463 with two homers, 11 doubles and a team-high 32 RBIs. She also went 9-0 in the circle with a 1.91 ERA and 37 strikeouts.

Academic all-staters
Crosby was also selected to the academic all-state team along with teammate Meleinna Patterson, a senior catcher and outfielder. Patterson batted .200 and had nine RBIs for the Eagles.
Nearly 100 players from across the state were named to the team by the IGCA.
