Centennial’s trio of senior stars joined by Spiegel on CIML Conference first team

The Ankeny Centennial softball team landed four players on the CIML Conference first team, led by a trio of repeat picks in seniors Jordyn Kennedy, Kori Lincicum and Mady Ott. They were joined on the squad by sophomore Peyten Spiegel.

Kennedy, an infielder, was named to the team for the fourth time. Ott, an outfielder, became a three-time selection.

Kennedy helped the Jaguars to a 41-4 record and a runner-up finish in the Class 5A state tournament. The Minnesota recruit batted .483 with 18 home runs, 11 doubles and 64 RBIs.

Ott, a Drake commit, batted .550 with 17 homers, 14 doubles and 61 RBIs. She helped Centennial to the outright league crown.

Lincicum, an outfielder, batted .486 with 18 homers, 11 doubles and 58 RBIs. The Drake recruit also went 5-0 in the pitching circle with a 4.73 ERA.

Spiegel, a pitcher, compiled an 18-1 record with a 1.38 ERA. She racked up 130 strikeouts.

Two other Jaguars, junior pitcher Lauren Sandholm and senior outfielder Mylie Hatfield, were named to the all-conference second team. They were joined on the squad by Ankeny standouts Kensington Arringdale and Morgan Fisher.

Sandholm, a Mississippi State recruit, posted a 13-1 mark with a 1.97 ERA and 96 strikeouts. Hatfield, a South Dakota State commit, batted .363 with 14 homers, 11 doubles and 43 RBIs.

Arringdale, a senior infielder, led the Hawkettes to a 12-25 record. The Mississippi State recruit batted .438 with 14 homers, nine doubles and 47 RBIs.

Fisher, a sophomore outfielder, was selected to a utility position. She batted .411 with two triples, two doubles and nine RBIs while stealing 17 bases in 17 attempts.

Senior infielder Ava Faber of Centennial was a repeat pick to the all-conference third team. The DMACC commit batted .346 with six homers, 10 doubles and 30 RBIs.

Faber was joined on the squad by senior outfielder Avery Nelson of Ankeny. The Iowa Western recruit batted .340 with three triples, four doubles and 15 RBIs.

Seven other Ankeny players earned all-conference honorable mention, including a quartet of repeat picks in sophomores Brylee Bach, Tenley Heidemann and Sarah Munger and freshman Emerson Hutchins. Junior Kinsley Ihle, sophomore Reagan Hogan and eighth grader Emma Munger also received honorable mention.

Senior Delaney Wyble, junior Cami Starr and sophomore Emmy Ott of Centennial earned honorable mention as well.

All-district teams

Kennedy was also named to the Class 5A West all-district team for the fourth straight year, while Ott was selected for the third time. The teams were selected by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.

Arringdale, Lincicum and Spiegel were among the other all-district selections.

Centennial coach Brett Delaney was also honored. He was named the district coach of the year.
