August 10, 2026 by Dan Holm

Senior outfielder Easton Lowe helped the Ankeny baseball team to a 14-27 record this season. He batted .370 with three home runs, five triples, five doubles and 16 RBIs.

Lowe was named to the Class 4A all-state second team and to the Class 4A North Central all-district team by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. He was also selected to the CIML Conference first team.

Here is some inside info on Lowe:

Congratulations on earning all-state honors. Was that a goal that you set out to accomplish this season?

Yes, I had set out some big goals for myself this season. That was definitely one of them.

What was the highlight of your season?

I would say sweeping Waukee Northwest at their place (on June 8).

Did you watch any of the games at the Class 4A state tournament, and were you rooting for anyone to win?

I watched every game from home, and I wouldn’t say I was rooting for anyone in particular. But it was nice to see coach Carlock win it all since he was a big influence on me during my sophomore season.

Indianola, the team that ended your season a year ago, ended up winning the state title. Did that surprise you at all?

No, it wasn’t a surprise. They had a really young team a year ago and have a good coaching staff.

You played for the Large Schools West in the 2026 All Star Series on July 30-Aug. 1 in Cedar Rapids. Did you enjoy that experience?

Yes, that experience was super fun getting to meet guys I’ve played against a lot.

Your team went 1-1 on the weekend. Did you get to play quite a bit, and was it hard to hit live pitching after not playing in a game since July 13?

I did play a good amount, and I wouldn’t say it was that hard to hit.

Did you get to do some fun things off the field?

Yes, they had stuff planned for us all the time to keep us busy.

You will play for Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar this fall. How soon do you report to school?

This Friday.

Former Ankeny Centennial players Damin Churchman and Darin Severs are already on the Cougars’ roster, and ex-Jaguar Trae Houser will also be joining the program this fall. Did you talk to any of them before you made your decision to go there?

I talked to Trae about it a little bit.

I know it’s a new program that struggled to a 7-40 record in its first season. Were you excited about the prospect of helping the Cougars become more competitive?

Yeah, I think it’s a great opportunity to join a brand new program and try to start a winning culture.

What are you planning to study?

Finance.
