The Ankeny Centennial girls’ cross country team is No. 2 in Class 4A in the preseason rankings from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. The preseason rankings were released on Monday afternoon.
The Jaguars placed fifth in last year’s Class 4A state meet. They are ranked behind defending state champion Waukee Northwest.
Centennial also boasts four girls among the top 30 runners in the individual rankings. Senior Ellie Blevins is ranked seventh, sophomore Rebecca Flick is No. 10, sophomore Natalie Cogdill is No. 22, and sophomore Sammi Maile is No. 26.
The Centennial boys’ team is No. 11 in Class 4A in the preseason rankings. The Jaguars are led by senior Jax Alvarez, who is No. 12 in the individual rankings.
