The Ankeny girls’ tennis team dropped a 6-0 decision at Dowling Catholic in a rain-shortened meet on Tuesday.
“We got the singles in and just sent the doubles out before the storm hit!” said Ankeny coach Katie Owens.
Since the Maroons had swept the singles matches, they earned enough wins to secure the overall victory. Thus, Owens said the remaining matches likely will not be rescheduled.
Dowling improved to 5-1 in the CIML Conference and 8-2 overall. The Hawkettes finished 1-7 in the league and dropped to 3-8 overall.
Ankeny will play a non-conference meet at Ottumwa (11-3) on Thursday.
