The pairings are now set for the third round of the Class 4A football playoffs.
There won’t be a Jag-Hawk rematch.
Second-ranked Ankeny (7-1) will host Cedar Falls (5-2) on Friday at 7 p.m. at Ankeny Stadium. It will be a rematch of a 2019 regular-season game that was won by the Tigers, 28-27, at the UNI-Dome.
While the Hawks are riding a six-game winning streak after rolling to a 70-0 victory over Council Bluffs Jefferson, Cedar Falls has won three in a row. The Tigers blanked Cedar Rapids Washington, 35-0, in the second round of the playoffs.
Waukee (6-2) will host Indianola (4-4) in the other Round of 16 game in Pod C. The winners of those two games will then meet in the quarterfinals on Nov. 6.
Ankeny could get a chance to avenge its only loss of the season with a trip to the UNI-Dome at stake. The Hawks lost at Waukee, 21-17, on Sept. 4.
Centennial (2-5), meanwhile, has been placed in Pod B. The Jaguars will visit No. 1 Southeast Polk (7-0) on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Rams won an earlier matchup against Centennial, 29-0, on Sept. 4. Titus Christiansen ran for three touchdowns–all of them in the first half–to lead the way for Southeast Polk.
The winner will play either Cedar Rapids Prairie (5-2) or Cedar Rapids Kennedy (3-3) in the quarterfinals on Nov. 6.
