Ankeny Centennial football standout Keegan Andriano spent a lot of time looking at more than a dozen colleges.
He eventually committed to Augustana University (S.D.), an NCAA Division II school.
Andriano announced his decision via Twitter on Sunday.
“I am proud to announce my commitment to the University of Augustana,” Andriano tweeted. “Thank you to all the coaches and teammates at Centennial for putting me in a position to succeed. Go Vikings.”
Andriano, a hard-hitting safety, helped the Jaguars to a 4-6 record last season. He made 59 tackles, including 43 solo stops, and tied for the team lead in interceptions with two.
Andriano was named to the Class 5A all-state third team by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association. He was also a first-team all-district selection.
Andriano said he had about 15 offers.
“It was a lot of traveling!” he said. “It was a tough choice because of all the coaches and players I had made relationships with along the way. One thing that stood out about Augustana was the coaching staff and how they hold their players to a high expectation. I also felt like I would fit great in their program because of the way they run their defense.”
