Ankeny Centennial girls’ soccer standouts Cady Compton, Alanna Pennington and Averi Porter have been named to the Class 3A West all-district team along with Ankeny stars Jasmine Moser and Jenna Pitz. The five seniors were honored by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
Pitz, a defender, and Moser, a goalkeeper, were the leaders of one of the state’s top defensive units. Moser made 45 saves as the Hawkettes posted a 12-4-1 record and advanced to the Class 3A state tournament.
Pennington, a midfielder, helped Centennial to a 10-7-1 mark and a trip to state. She led the Jaguars with nine goals, seven assists and 25 points.
Compton and Porter split time between the forward and midfield positions while also battling knee injuries that forced them to miss a combined eight games. Compton contributed eight goals and two assists, while Porter had three goals and five assists.
