
Ankeny softball standouts Larissa Miller and Kendra Winfrey have been named to the academic all-state team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
To be selected for the squad, athletes must be a senior and have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and an ACT minimum score of 27 or higher. A total of 56 players from across the state were named to the team.
Miller, an infielder, batted .404 and knocked in 12 runs while helping the Hawkettes to a 31-8 record and a tie for seventh place in Class 5A. She led the team with 26 walks, 48 runs scored and 39 stolen bases.

Winfrey, a pitcher, compiled an 11-0 record with a 1.12 ERA and 82 strikeouts. She also batted .308 with two homers and 23 RBIs.
Miller was also selected to play in the Senior All-Star Game along with senior catcher Sydney Morris of Ankeny Centennial. The All-Star event was held on Saturday at Johnston.
