One of the hottest girls’ golf teams in the CIML Conference had no trouble with the cooler temperatures on Thursday morning at Otter Creek Golf Course.
Southeast Polk remained unbeaten in league play by defeating Johnston and host Ankeny in a triangular meet. The Rams shot a 175 to improve to 6-0 in the conference.
Johnston posted a 185 total, while Ankeny finished with a 188. The Dragons are now 3-3 in the league, while the Hawkettes dropped to 2-4.

“As a team we are disappointed with such a close loss, but also ready to move on for Monday,” said Ankeny coach Kelley Emke. “This team continues to impress me with their growth and perseverance!”
Madalyn Ross carded a 4-over-par 40 to lead Ankeny. She was the runner-up behind Anna Wahman of Southeast Polk, who was the medalist with a 38.
“Madalyn had an amazing season best today!” Emke said. “She even had two birdies toward the beginning (of her round).”

Gabby Haga fired a 46 for the Hawkettes. Aubree Moeller and Catherine Nelson each shot a 51, Tenley Beelner had a 61, and Lydia Gerety added a 64.
Kate Wahman shot a 42 to for Southeast Polk, which had three other scores in the 40s. The Rams will play for the conference dual-meet title on Tuesday at Copper Creek, where they will face fellow unbeaten Waukee Northwest (6-0) and Ankeny Centennial (2-4) in their final triangular.
Ankeny, meanwhile, will compete in the Turk Bowman Invitational on Monday at Veenker Golf Course in Ames.
