One of the state’s best bowling teams visited Great Escape on Thursday for a CIML Iowa Conference dual meet against host Ankeny.
The Marshalltown boys’ squad lived up to the hype.
The Bobcats defeated Ankeny by a score of 3,186 to 2,590. They improved to 9-1 on the season, while the Hawks dropped to 0-3 in the conference and 2-9 overall.
Demitri Ferneau led Marshalltown with a 475 series, while Aaron Ratte had a high game of 278 en route to a 450 series. The Bobcats built a 407-pin lead after the individual rounds, then bowled a 201 or better in all of the Baker games.
“Marshalltown bowled really well,” said Ankeny coach Lane Richtsmeier.
Blake Schumacher led the Hawks with a 368 series. He was the team’s top scorer for the second straight meet and for the fifth time this season.
Aidan Doruska bowled a 227 in his first game en route to a 361 series. Jay Miller rolled a 331, Jackson Roberts had a 328, Kole Jordan bowled a 326, and Chase Jordan added a 285.
Marshalltown also won the girls’ meet by a score of 2,118 to 1,426. Sydney Dannen bowled a 358 series to lead the Bobcats, who raised their overall record to 3-6.
Marissa Larson-Minar led Ankeny with a 286 series, including a 153 in her first game. Kali Ogg bowled a 251, Lynn Cronk had a 250, and Lilianna Sinclair finished with a 170.
The Hawkettes fell to 0-3 in the league and 1-10 overall.
The Ankeny teams will face Des Moines Roosevelt in a non-conference meet on Tuesday at Air Lanes Bowling Center.
