Senior third baseman and catcher Colin Riggs has helped the fifth-ranked Ankeny baseball team to a 14-6 record. Riggs has played in all 20 games, starting 18 times. Centennial’s Smith named 4A At-Large Coach of the Year by IATC

Ankeny Centennial boys' track coach Nate Smith has been named a Class 4A At-Large Coach of the Year by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. Smith guided Centennial to a third-place finish in last month's Class 4A state meet, the school's highest finish ever. Nobody has been more associated with the Ankeny baseball program than Mel Murken. Murken coached the Hawks for 32 years and racked up 620 victories at the school.
