A five-run fifth inning helped the Ankeny Centennial softball team to a 9-0 victory over Newton in its home opener on Wednesday. Centennial struggles at the plate, drops both games to open season at Ottumwa

On the opening night of the high school baseball season, Ankeny Centennial allowed just three total runs in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday at Ottumwa. Somehow, the Jaguars lost both games. The Ankeny Centennial softball team opened the season on Monday by winning a pair of games in similar fashion to sweep a non-conference doubleheader at Ottumwa.
