The Ankeny girls' bowling team has already surpassed its win total from last season. The Hawkettes defeated host Ames in a non-conference meet on Tuesday at Perfect Games. For the first time since the 2020-21 season, the Ankeny boys' and girls' bowling teams both enjoyed a victory on the same day. Ankeny bowling coach Lane Richtsmeier likes what he has seen thus far from his teams. "The practices are going pretty well--for just getting started," he said. Ankeny's Aidan Doruska finished in 19th place in the Class 3A individual boys' state bowling tournament on Monday at Maple Lanes Bowling Center in Waterloo.
