Centennial’s Neal to play football at Wartburg College

Ankeny Fanatic announces its all-time Ankeny boys’ cross country team

During his long tenure as the Ankeny boys' cross country coach, Steve Arneson guided dozens of runners to an appearance in the state meet. Ankeny qualified for state for 22 consecutive years from 1990-2011, the third-longest streak in state history. Only Cedar Falls (1992-2016) and Monticello (1997-2019) have had longer streaks. Senior forward Jackie Pippett has helped the fifth-ranked Ankeny Centennial girls' basketball team to a 9-1 record. She is averaging 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. The Ankeny Centennial boys' basketball team moved another step closer to the CIML Iowa Conference title with a 76-48 victory over visiting Mason City on Saturday. Saturday's CIML Iowa Conference boys' swimming meet was expected to produce a tight battle between second-ranked Ankeny and No. 6 Ames for the league crown. It never materialized. The Ankeny girls' bowling team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday at Warrior Lanes. Waukee remained unbeaten with a 115-pin victory over the Hawkettes.
