Ankeny’s Johnson shoots 72, qualifies for state as individual

Ankeny sophomore Hunter Johnson wasn't ready to put his golf clubs away just yet. Johnson carded a 72 in a Class 4A district meet on Tuesday at Waveland Golf Course to qualify for the state meet as an individual. Nick Sash of the Ankeny Centennial boys' cross country team is the Ankeny Fanatic Sub of the Week sponsored by Blimpie. Sash, a senior, has helped Centennial to a No. 11 ranking in Class 4A. Senior Russell Rydin led the eighth-ranked Ankeny Centennial boys' golf team to a second-place finish in the Ankeny Invitational on Sept. 24 at Otter Creek. Centennial hires Petersen to take over girls’ tennis program
