The Ankeny Centennial boys' tennis team proved on Friday that it can play with some of the state's best squads. The Jaguars placed second among eight teams in the Dennis Hoefle Invitational at Ankeny. They finished with 58 points, more than twice as many as last season. Going into the final event at the Chuck Silvey Invitational on Thursday at Urbandale, the Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial girls' track teams were tied for second place with 88 points apiece. Centennial’s VanBaale earns 4th straight trip to Drake Relays in 100-meter dash

Thursday's Waukee Invitational provided one last opportunity for the Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial boys' track teams to qualify for the Drake Relays. On Friday night, the Ankeny Centennial girls' soccer team was unable to find the net in a season-opening loss to top-ranked Waukee. That wasn't a problem on Tuesday.
