A 31-point first quarter ignited the Ankeny girls' basketball team to a 69-15 victory at Des Moines East in a non-conference game on Saturday. Ryan Crandall and the Ankeny boys' basketball team picked up a road victory on Friday as the Hawks defeated Mason City, 70-56, in a CIML Iowa Conference game. The Ankeny boys' basketball players had to wait 18 days to get back on the court after dropping a 57-50 decision to fourth-ranked Waukee Northwest on Dec. 17. Senior Trever Anderson has led the 10th-ranked Ankeny wrestling team to a 7-2 record. The two-time state champion is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A at 120 pounds.
