Former Ankeny standout Tim Sindt closed out his collegiate cross country career in style. Sindt helped the Iowa State men's team to a second-place finish in the NCAA Championships on Saturday at Madison, Wis. It was the Cyclones' second runner-up finish in the last four years. Ankeny Fanatic announces its all-time Ankeny boys’ cross country team

During his long tenure as the Ankeny boys' cross country coach, Steve Arneson guided dozens of runners to an appearance in the state meet. Ankeny qualified for state for 22 consecutive years from 1990-2011, the third-longest streak in state history. Only Cedar Falls (1992-2016) and Monticello (1997-2019) have had longer streaks. Ankeny's Tim Sindt accomplished what he wanted to on Friday during a boys' Class 4A district track meet at Fort Dodge. The two-time state cross country champion qualified for the state meet in all three of his events, helping the Hawks to a third-place finish in the eight-team field. Sindt places 2nd in 1,600, but ‘super happy’ about future roommate’s victory

Ankeny's Tim Sindt didn't mind coming in second place on Saturday. The only runner that beat him, Joe Schaefer of Johnston, is a good friend. Ankeny boys' cross country coach Jon Lindaman has been named a Class 4A At Large Coach of the Year by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.
